I went to Michigan to see my Mom this week. She moved into a small nursing facility 3 weeks ago after living in the same house for 72 years. Very hard for her, but after falling for the 3rd time since December and ending up in the hospital, we had no choice but to force the issue. My brother found Rosetta’s Bella Casa in Riverview. I am very impressed with the facility and the well trained and caring staff. Only 6 residents with full time 24 hr care. They have monitors everywhere and the residents get immediate attention. It is a large ranch with big rooms and everything is very clean. Although Mom still worries about her house and her things, she likes it there and seems very content. The place is run by 2 registered nurses. Sisters of Italian heritage who do the cooking and Mom says the food is fantastic. I got to meet one of the sisters Rose. Great lady!!! Mom has maculer degeneration, arthritis, and Parkinsons and can barely walk. She is now getting the proper care she needs and though this isn’t about me or my brother, we are relieved.

I took a Ukulele with me and we sang a bunch of songs she sang to me when I was little. I don’t know how I remembered them after all these years, but I did. Songs like “Three Little Fishees” and “Marzy Doats”. She sang along and at 92 still has a pretty good voice!
